What Fossils can you find at Samphire Hoe?


(Brachiopod in loose material) - 2007

Brachiopods are abundant and easily collected either from the chalk using a hammer and chisel, or loose from weathered material.

Other fossils to find include worm tubes, corals, bivalves, gastropods, fish and shark remains etc. If you are lucky you may find a chalk Ammonite, some of which can be over a foot in width here.

Some very pretty pyrite crystals also occur, it is worth looking out for these.
